It looks like we will be wearing mask into the Fall and likely the Winter too. Now that it's pretty clear that masks may be here to stay - at least for now; I have to admit that getting up to speed on my mask game for Summer felt like I was always behind the 8-ball. With retailers big and small experiencing back orders and stalled production, most of us had to make due with whatever we could get our hands on.
Masks are everywhere now in a million and one styles. Some are obviously safer than others but wearing any mask is better than not wearing one at all. Like anything in fashion that is a necessesity, there's going to be people getting creative and building trends on top of the basics. Some of the strongest trends you're going to see this Fall are going to be denim and leather masks, followed by knit masks. Mask wearers are going to really embrace silicone masks for their practicality, simplicity and array of colors but I think the most popular masks (and the ones I've seen on the streets day to day during the Spring/Summer) are still going to be the good old solid color stretchy cotton masks.
I think it's time to have some fun with my mask styles.
I. Denim Masks
I first noticed denim face masks back in April and snatched up a pack with 3 different shades of denim, light, medium and dark. I thought I was going to use these for a photoshoot and maybe for the Fall/Winter season but quickly found myself rocking them throughout the entire Summer. Denim is always a trend for Fall in one way or another and I believe denim face masks is going to be HUGE this year! Denim looks great with just about anything - dress, leggings, or even denim on denim.

II. Leather Masks
Leather always sends a message whether you're trying to or not. Real leather or faux leather masks this season is certainly going to get you noticed. I'm opting for faux leather masks that feature paper filters.
III. Knit Masks
Knit mask are beautiful because they come in pretty colors such as pastels, warm hues, and even seasonal patterns. Unlined, they can be itchy and irritating to the face. Not to mention that "knit lint" can easily stick to your makeup. I think these are going to be cute and fun for special moments throughout the holiday season and any outdoor activities like tree lightings but probably won't be a daily go to mask style.
IV. Silicone Masks
Silicone face mask were actually the first non-medical face masks I purchased. I really liked their reusability and the replaceable filters. I thought I was going to use them for working out but I ended up using them for outdoor activities such as the farmer's market and casual outdoor activities.

I can imagine that at some point during this season we're all going to want something basic to carry us through when "staying on trend" gets to be a little too much. Which is why I feel like a good old sturdy cotton solid color mask is always going to be a staple. I personally favor wearing a solid color mask with no logos, prints or patterns when I'm going for a run or to workout. For me that's the perfect occasion to let my workout outfit shine instead of my mask.
