As an avid yet reserved cannabis consumer, I’m excited that today is 420 2020. Although I won’t be celebrating in the “traditional” sense, I’ve decided to take a break from covering how Covid-19 is and will continue to affect the beauty and fashion space to feature a few brands that have launched cannabis related beauty products. In this post I’m featuring E.L.F. Cosmetics’ Hit Kit, a hemp-derived cannabis sativa collection. The collection features the following products:
- Happy Hydration Face Cream
- Puff Puff Primer
- All the Feels Facial Oil
- Calm Balm
In my review video of E.L.F. Hit Kit I talk about the actual amount of CBD in the products and what’s legally allowed to be added to beauty products. This is really confusing for a lot of consumers who are not familiar with the legalities around CBD in health and beauty products. E.L.F.’s Hit Lit Collection doesn’t include any derivatives from the cannabis plant that will harm you or make up high. So no, there’s no THC. In fact, the verdict is still out on the impact of hemp seed oil in beauty and health products overall and I think this is going to be a point of contention for some time between regulators and brands. So here’s the breakdown of what is in each of the products from this collection:
- (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil,
- Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil,
- Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil,
**Keep in mind that all e.l.f. skincare products are vegan/cruelty free and are free from Parabens, Sulfates, and Phthalates.
My favorite items from this collection are the All The Feels Facial Oil and the Happy Hydration Face Cream. Both do a great job with hydration and bringing out the “healthy glow” of your skin. I also noticed that the All The Feels Facial Oil worked really well at calming my skin after being exposed to the sun and doing any extractions.
I was disappointed by the Calm Balm - especially after trying the Green Goddess Transforming Lip Balm by Milani Cosmetics (see the Milani Green Goddess Cannabis Collection review here, https://www.daisijoreviews.com/blog/milanigreengoddess). I also felt the the Puff Puff Primer was a miss. E.L.F. does amazing primers but I don't think this one lives up to their potential.
Overall, I do hope E.L.F. continues to produce the All The Feels Facial Oil and the Happy Hydration Face Cream. I would definitely replenish my supply.
