The new collection by E.L.F. Cosmetics, Modern Metals is easily becoming one of my Fall favorites! The collection was released a few weeks ago and is a collaboration between E.L.F. and several beauty influencers including Leslie Alvarado, Yuri Antillon, Kathlyn Celeste, Irash Javed, and Mia Randria during the E.L.F. Beautyscape event in New Orleans. The collection is based on the vibrant colors of New Orleans. There are so many things I really love about the collection. For one, I love how creamy the eyeshadows go on, how blendable the blushes and the highlighters are.
The shadow palette features 5 shimmery shade and 5 matte shades. The matte shades are composed of bold colors like purple, blue, gold, and what I would describe as a terra-cotta. The shimmery shades follow a gradient of gold tones - ranging from a pearl, champagne, gilded gold, solid gold, and bronze gold.
The blush and contour palette is equally impressive. It’s most optimal for people with medium skin tone but really every skin tone can work with this palette. The blush shades are a peachy orange, a mauve shade and a shade that’s more on the bronze side so it could be used for a blush or a bronzing effect. The blushes go on and blend well but what really has me in awe are the highlighters, especially the last one at the end. It’s this magical ombre which I think creates such a natural shimmer. All of the highlights have this microfine shimmer strobe effect but the last one in the palette really does it for me and if E.L.F. ever decides to offer this highlight shade as an independent product, I’d be certain to buy it.
At first look, I wasn’t thinking that the Modern Metals collection could essentially be a “holiday” collection until I tried on the matte liquid lip. The burnt orange shade really says Fall in a bold way that still manages to wear well during the daytime. Once I applied the lipgloss over the matte liquid lip ( like you’ve probably seen E.L.F. do in the editorials and other influencers do on Instagram), I realized not only do I have a Fall lip but I also have a sexy, festive holiday lip look that isn’t the cliche red.
