I’ve been meeting more and more people who are incorporating audiobooks into their busy lives as a way to rekindle the joy of reading, well, without reading. Life can get so demanding that it’s impossible to sit down and enjoy a good book, especially when presented with the option of Netflix. Audiobooks has been a pleasant alternative to carrying a physical book around or trying to read while commuting. I easily get motion sickness so reading while in any moving vehicle is out of the question.
I’ve been asking my friends who listen to audiobooks what their favorite accessories are and here’s a round up of what they recommended:
AirPods Pro
Apple released the new AirPods Pro a few months ago with some useful upgrades. This AirPod version features active noise cancellation delivering an immersive sound but allows you to hear what’s going on around you with Transparency mode. So you can decide whether you want to zone out or tune in. The fit is also better than the regular AirPods. So if you’re like me and have really small ears, AirPods Pro provides three sizes of flexible silicone tips to adjust the fit. Like the first and second version AirPods, you can easily switch from listening to your audiobook, to answering calls, or engaging with Siri. (Shop Here.)
Echo Dot
All Echo Dot’s of course come with Alexa but I favor the Echo Dot that also has a built in clock. I have a 2nd generation edition which we really love for repeat ordering on Amazon, controlling household items like the Nest, and using the timer feature for cooking but the Echo Dot is really impressive when it comes to reading me a bedtime story. Echo Dot integrates perfectly with Audible and other audiobook Skills ( “Skills" are Echo’s version of “Apps”). Falling asleep while Alexa reads me a bedtime story is lifegoals. You can even set a timer for Alexa to stop reading in case you fall asleep.(Shop Here.)
Kindle Oasis
I’ve never actually tried reading on a Kindle before. So when I learned that the Kindle has a version that comes with Audible, I was really impressed. It also all of sudden became clear to me what Amazon's “Whispersync” feature is all about and how it actually works. If you haven’t heard, Whispersync allows you to easily switch seamlessly between reading and listening. Although you don’t need a Kindle to use Whispersync; Kindle Oasis integrates the feature natively into one device, making it easier and more accessible for Kindle and Audiobook fans alike. Beats are an audible accessory that’ll make you feel like a star. With fast fuel charging and up to 22 hours of play time; you can use these while using the lawn mower, vacuum or garbage disposal and you never miss a second of your audiobook! Just don’t wear them while driving. (Shop Here.)

The most impressive car phone holder on the market. Made for iPhone and Android devices, Kenu Airbuses Magnet will safely keep your phone act eye level view. Listen to your favorite audiobook while driving without having to take your eyes off the road. (Shop Here.)
JBL CLIP3 Speaker
Whoever thought of attaching a carabiner to a speaker is genius. The CLIP3 is waterproof so you can immerse it in water free of worry, making it a great shower speaker. It also has a built-in rechargeable battery with 10 hours of playtime; so bathe away while listening to The Water Dancer by Ta-Nehisi Coates. (Shop Here.)
