The Foodie Space and Trip Los Angeles

I’m definitely guilty of taking way too many photos of my food - often times repeatedly of the same dish. Bae regularly reminds me when I’ve taken pictures of the same dish at the same restaurant multiple times over while I try to explain why my new order needs a reshoot from a different angle! So you can understand my excitement when I was invited to an event hosted by The Foodie Space and Trip Los Angeles for an exclusive photo experience.

Trip Los Angeles is an app and web platform helps you find cool things to do, like going to The Foodie Space in any city whether your new or just visiting.  The Foodie Space is a pop-up museum with interactive food-themed exhibits. Each exhibit was created by a local artist such as Trinh Mai, Julia Taft, and others.  Although most of the exhibits were focused around popular Asian dishes, a few American favorites got some attention such as the gigantic french fries an expansive pizza bed.

Asian food is a lot of fun to play with in gigantic form. Who wouldn’t want to pretend to eat pho with life-size chopsticks or lay on a bed of sushi? The only thing better would be to be eating sushi at the same time! I really enjoyed the art and craftsmanship of each and every exhibit. Each exhibit took on a life of itself. The museum featured exhibits like Pizza beds, colossal glitter fries under a wedding alter with the caption, “Fries Before Guys”, a huge bowl of pho (of course its not real but all the typical ingredients you would have in pho were recreated in life-size form - even the bean sprouts), a dumpling bowl, a cute tea set that you could actually sit in and there were even a gigantic cup noddles. I totally felt like I was in an adult version of Chucky Cheese ’s ball pit when I dived into an enormous tin of caviar!
